Legal Documents
By using Koydo, users agree to use the service lawfully and in accordance with child safety and educational conduct rules.
Checking acceptance status...
Koydo is open to learners ages 3+. You may create an account only if you are legally permitted to enter a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, or if your parent or legal guardian creates the account and accepts these Terms on your behalf.
For users under 13 in the United States (and equivalent child-protection ages in other jurisdictions), Koydo requires Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC) before enabling personalised, account-linked, or AI-powered features, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA, 16 CFR Part 312) and applicable regional child-protection laws. The primary VPC method is a $0.50 credit or debit card micro-charge that is immediately refunded — the FTC-recommended method proving the parent holds a valid payment card. Alternate methods include an email verification link (lower assurance) and a government-issued photo ID upload (highest assurance; ID deleted after verification). VPC is completed through our Parent Consent flow at /auth/parent-consent.
AI-powered companion chat and open-ended generative AI features are age-gated and unavailable to verified users under 13. Structured curriculum lessons, flashcards, read-aloud audio, and curated games are available to every learner in the family.
Parents and legal guardians are responsible for supervising minors, billing activity, and account-level decisions made through family-managed access. A verified parent or guardian may request access, correction, or deletion of a child's data by contacting support@koydo.app; requests are fulfilled within 30 days in compliance with COPPA and GDPR Art. 12.
You must provide accurate, current, and complete registration and billing information, including your billing region when requested for legal and tax compliance.
You are responsible for maintaining credential confidentiality and for activity performed through your account, unless caused by our material security failure.
You must promptly notify us at support@koydo.app if you suspect unauthorized use.
Paid plans renew automatically at the disclosed interval unless canceled before the next renewal date. Price, cycle, and cancellation terms are presented at checkout and in your account billing view.
For direct web billing, you authorize recurring charges until canceled. Cancellation stops future renewal charges and does not retroactively refund prior periods unless required by applicable law or an express written policy.
For Apple App Store and Google Play purchases, payment, cancellation, and refund workflows are controlled by the applicable store terms and platform billing policies. When store terms conflict with direct-web language in these Terms, store terms control for that purchase channel.
We provide clear renewal disclosures and consent capture intended to align with federal negative option requirements (including ROSCA for covered transactions) and applicable regional auto-renewal statutes.
You may not misuse the Service, including by reverse engineering, scraping at scale, bypassing access controls, uploading unlawful content, abusing trial mechanisms, committing payment fraud, or interfering with service integrity.
You may not use the Service to violate child safety, privacy, intellectual property, consumer protection, sanctions, export, or anti-fraud laws.
We may suspend, throttle, or terminate abusive activity, including automated or scripted behavior that creates security or cost risk.
Koydo and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the Service, including software, algorithms, logos, trademarks, and the 'Koydo Refined Catalog'.
The 'Koydo Refined Catalog' consists of over 700 educational modules that have undergone proprietary multi-stage AI smoothing, pedagogical refinement, and semantic auditing. This content is protected as a proprietary compilation and creative work.
The multi-stage 'Refinery' processes, including automated model rotation, station-based verification, and high-context pedagogical audits, are protected trade secrets of Koydo.
You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for personal, household, or classroom educational use. This license does NOT include the right to: (a) scrape, crawl, or extract curriculum data at scale; (b) use our refined content to train, test, or fine-tune competing AI models; or (c) redistribute our proprietary pedagogical structures without express written consent.
You retain ownership of content you submit, but grant Koydo a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
If you submit feedback, feature ideas, or suggestions, we may use them without restriction or compensation.
Educational outputs and AI-assisted content are provided for learning support and may contain errors; you remain responsible for decisions made based on generated content.
Koydo does not use your personal data, learning progress, submitted content, or any user-generated material to train, fine-tune, or improve artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Lesson text may be sent to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) solely to generate educational content in real time; no personal data is included in these requests and no data is retained by these providers for model training. AI features are restricted for users under 13 in accordance with COPPA.
AI conversations with the Koydo companion, tutor, and interactive features may be retained internally by Koydo for safety monitoring, abuse detection, and dispute resolution. These logs are stored securely, are not shared with third parties for commercial purposes, and are accessible only to authorized Koydo personnel. Conversation logs are retained for a maximum of 12 months unless a longer retention period is required by law or ongoing safety investigation. You may request deletion of your conversation logs by contacting privacy@koydo.app.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process personal data under the following lawful bases as defined by GDPR Article 6(1):
(a) Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): processing necessary to provide the Service, including account creation, authentication, learning progress tracking, subscription management, and customer support.
(b) Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): analytics and usage tracking via Mixpanel (adults only, consent-gated via our cookie consent mechanism). You may withdraw consent at any time via the 'Manage Cookies' control in the site footer, without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.
(c) Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): security monitoring, fraud prevention, abuse detection, and service integrity protection. We have balanced these interests against your rights and determined they do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms.
(d) Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): retention of billing records as required by tax and financial regulations, and compliance with lawful data requests from authorities.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, port your data, and object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@koydo.app.
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion through available account controls or support channels.
We may suspend or terminate access for fraud, policy violations, abuse, unlawful behavior, nonpayment, legal requests, or security risk.
Sections that by nature should survive termination, including payment obligations, limitation of liability, dispute resolution, and indemnity, survive termination.
Please contact support@koydo.app first so we can attempt informal resolution. You must send a written Notice of Dispute, and the parties shall engage in at least one good-faith settlement conference within 30 days before initiating arbitration.
Except where prohibited by applicable law (such as in the EU/UK), disputes arising from these Terms or the Service are resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, governed by the Federal Arbitration Act, 9 U.S.C. §§ 1–16, and not by jury trial or class/representative proceeding. Arbitration hearings may be conducted by videoconference or, for claims under $10,000, by telephone or document submission at your election.
YOU AND KOYDO EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of initial acceptance by sending your account email and a clear opt-out request to legal@koydo.app.
If your regional law limits arbitration or class waiver enforcement for your claim type, that limitation applies only to the extent required by law. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable, the entire arbitration provision (but only the arbitration provision) shall be null and void.
The binding arbitration and class action waiver provisions in this section do not apply to users under 18 years of age. Disputes involving minors shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law and the courts of competent jurisdiction.
All aspects of the arbitration proceeding, including the award, are strictly confidential except as required by law or for enforcement purposes. Each party may also seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property rights without first engaging in informal dispute resolution.
The Service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis to the maximum extent permitted by law, without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koydo is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill, or data.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koydo's aggregate liability for claims arising out of or related to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts paid by you to Koydo during the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 100.
You agree to indemnify and hold Koydo harmless from claims, losses, and expenses arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms, or violation of law, except to the extent caused by Koydo's gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Koydo's Trusted Care Network ('TCN') is a technology platform that enables households and caregivers to create profiles, send and receive referrals, communicate, schedule care services, process eligible payments, and maintain booking and statement records. Koydo does not itself provide childcare, in-home supervision, transportation, tutoring, or other household or care services.
Koydo is not the employer, co-employer, joint employer, principal, agent, staffing agency, or insurer of any parent, teen sitter, adult caregiver, or household. Koydo does not direct or control the manner, method, location, timing, or standard of any care or household service arranged through the platform.
References to 'Koydo-linked,' 'guardian-linked,' 'community-referred,' 'referral-first,' 'ID verified,' or 'background check completed' are informational signals describing specific, limited platform processes — not endorsements, safety certifications, employment decisions, or guarantees of any kind. The absence of a flag or report is not evidence that no risk exists.
Users are solely responsible for determining and complying with all applicable laws, regulations, labor rules, tax obligations, curfew requirements, youth-employment restrictions, domestic-worker regulations, and insurance requirements applicable to any caregiving relationship arranged through or outside the platform.
Teen Sitter Accounts are available only to individuals aged 13 through 17 who have a linked parent or legal guardian ('Guardian') account activated and approved by Koydo. No person under 13 may create a Teen Sitter Account, use sitter-related features, or provide personal information to Koydo through the TCN service.
By activating, sponsoring, or approving a Teen Sitter Account, the Guardian represents and warrants that they are the parent or legal guardian of the teen user, have legal authority to act on the teen's behalf, and consent to the teen's use of the TCN service subject to all Koydo terms, policies, and safety rules.
Guardians are responsible for: (a) monitoring the Teen Sitter Account and supervising the teen's use of the platform; (b) ensuring that tasks accepted by the teen are lawful, age-appropriate, and consistent with applicable youth-employment laws; (c) keeping contact and payout information current; (d) approving payout destination setup before any earnings can be transferred; and (e) complying with local consent, curfew, transportation, labor, and safety requirements.
Koydo may provide guardian controls that allow a linked parent or guardian to review or manage visibility, referrals, communications settings, booking permissions, payout settings, linked payment methods, ratings access, and account deactivation. Instructions given through the linked Guardian account are deemed authoritative for the associated Teen Sitter Account.
No payout destination for a Teen Sitter Account may be added, modified, or activated without Guardian approval in the manner required by Koydo and its payment partners. Koydo may require Guardian identity verification, payment verification, or tax information before enabling or continuing payouts.
Teen sitters aged 13–15 are subject to tighter visibility restrictions, narrower task categories, and shorter booking windows than sitters aged 16–17, and neither group is openly searchable by the general public at launch. Discoverability is earned through verified referrals, household links, and trust milestones at Koydo's discretion.
A booking is not confirmed until the applicable caregiver or sitter accepts it through the platform and any required payment authorization is successfully placed. Koydo may cancel, refuse, or reclassify a booking if required information, payment authorization, identity data, or safety conditions are missing, invalid, or under review.
By creating or accepting a booking as a paying household, you authorize Koydo and its payment processors to place authorizations, capture charges, and process related platform fees, tips, taxes, adjustments, refunds, and reversals using your designated payment method as disclosed at checkout or in your account.
Koydo may delay, limit, or withhold payouts pending completion of onboarding, Guardian approval, identity verification, fraud review, reserve requirements, dispute resolution, chargeback investigation, refund processing, or compliance with payment-partner requirements. Koydo may impose transaction limits, rolling reserves, negative-balance offsets, or recoupment against future payable amounts to protect the platform and its users.
Cancellation fees may apply based on the notice provided before a scheduled booking start. Unless otherwise specified: cancellations by the paying household more than 24 hours before start incur no fee; cancellations 4–24 hours before start may incur a partial cancellation fee; cancellations fewer than 4 hours before start or household no-shows may incur a late-cancellation or no-show charge with a protected payout portion allocated to the affected sitter. Repeated cancellation abuse may result in account restrictions.
Reviews, ratings, referrals, and recommendations may only be submitted by verified participants in completed bookings or verified household links. Koydo may remove, moderate, or decline to display any review, referral, or rating at its discretion. Users grant Koydo a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, summarize, and moderate submitted reviews and referrals.
Koydo may provide booking summaries, fee disclosures, payout records, tax-related summaries, and monthly statements electronically through the platform or through a linked Guardian account. Koydo may collect tax-identification data and issue tax documents where required by law. Users remain solely responsible for their own tax treatment and filings. Koydo does not promise any particular employment or contractor classification.
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content not owned or controlled by Koydo. Koydo does not endorse and is not responsible for any third-party services, their content, privacy practices, or availability. Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their own terms.
If you use the Koydo application through the Apple App Store, these Terms are between you and Koydo only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation for maintenance, support, warranties, product liability, or intellectual property claims related to the application. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms.
If you use the Koydo application through the Google Play Store, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Payment processing through Apple, Google, Stripe, or other third-party processors is governed by their respective terms in addition to these Terms.
By creating an account or using the Service, you consent to receive electronic communications from Koydo, including account notifications, billing confirmations, Terms updates, and security alerts. You may opt out of promotional messages but may not opt out of transactional or legal communications while your account is active.
The Service is operated from the United States. You represent that you are not located in, organized under the laws of, or a resident of any country subject to comprehensive U.S. economic or trade sanctions, identified on any U.S. government restricted parties list, or otherwise the target of U.S. sanctions. You may not use, export, or re-export the Service in violation of applicable U.S. export control laws.
The Service is designed primarily for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you are solely responsible for compliance with applicable local laws. Koydo makes no representation that the Service is appropriate or available for use in all locations.
For Institutional Accounts, Koydo acts as a School Official under FERPA and processes student education records solely to provide the Service. Koydo does not sell student data, does not use student data for targeted advertising, and complies with COPPA, PPRA, and applicable state student data privacy laws. Schools may request deletion of student data by contacting privacy@koydo.app; requests are fulfilled within 30 days.
Koydo reserves the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, for any reason, including maintenance, security, regulatory compliance, or business reasons. If a material feature included in your paid subscription is permanently discontinued, you may request a pro rata refund for the unused portion of your current billing period.
Koydo may suspend or terminate access to the Service for any account with unpaid fees. Delinquent accounts may be charged reasonable costs of collection, including attorney's fees where permitted by applicable law.
If you believe content was removed by mistake, you may submit a counter-notification to legal@koydo.app containing your signature, identification of the removed content, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was in error, and consent to jurisdiction in Harris County, Texas. Koydo will, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of intellectual property rights.
If 25 or more similar arbitration demands are filed with the same or coordinated counsel, they constitute a Mass Arbitration and shall be administered by National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM) under its Mass Filing Supplemental Rules, rather than AAA. All Mass Arbitrations and fee obligations are stayed pending resolution of any compliance dispute.
Any dispute must be filed within one (1) year after the party asserting the claim first knew or should have known of the facts giving rise to the dispute, except for claims of nonpayment or intellectual property infringement.
We may update these Terms for legal, security, operational, or product reasons. Material changes are communicated through in-app notice, account notice, or email, and become effective on the posted effective date unless law requires a different process.
By continuing to use the Service after changes become effective, you accept the revised Terms.
Unless a non-waivable consumer law requires otherwise (see Regional Addendums), these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, excluding conflict-of-law principles. If the arbitration agreement is found unenforceable or you have opted out, any litigation shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
Contact: support@koydo.app for support and legal@koydo.app for legal notices.
Your rights may vary by jurisdiction. If a local consumer protection law cannot be waived, these Terms are interpreted to preserve that non-waivable right.
If a term in these Terms is unenforceable in your billing region, that term is modified only as needed to be enforceable, and all remaining terms stay in effect.
